Archaeological reconstruction is conducted nowadays by means of 3D scanning and 3D printing techniques. Computerized scanning and analysis allow archaeologists to digitally reconstruct a complete vessel from a single fragment, generating a digital copy of the original. Speculative reconstruction of pottery remains found in archeological excavations in Israel examines the contrasts between traditional production methods such as a pottery wheel, and the advanced technology of 3D printing and the changes and innovation it brings to the design process in the encounter with archeological findings. The project explores the technological progress in archaeological reconstruction where it can sometimes be difficult to distinguish between absolute or alternative facts, scams, and forgeries.
