Employing a new raw material recently developed by Daikawood which is environmentally friendly and composed solely of natural components, Oded Friedland examines the idea of perpetuum mobile, pertaining, in this case, to the relation between two products sourced from one another, in an endless cycle of eternal movement. Through a series of pencil sharpeners and pencils composed of shavings of the same material that both the pencils and sharpeners are made of, a never ending cycle of products is born. Pencil to Pencil illustrates the potential inherent in this very material, using a range of processes to create new products from wood waste.
