Erez Ben Shahar collects broken, discarded, and worn pieces of furniture, using them to build new objects, reestablishing their place in the “circle of life.” Ben Shahar’s recent work focuses on “extracting” spoons from chair legs and other pieces of furniture through the act of carving. Inspiration drawn from natural phenomena underscores the cycle that Ben Shahar explores through design – industrialized wood is processed into hand-carved furniture, and returns full circle as a natural product.
